Charming Home Tour Locations

Beth Bay – 712 Magnolia Street
Sheltered by numerous stately oaks, this charming 1920 Craftsman cottage evidences several eras of change while retaining its original appeal. Heart pine floors, low seated windows and unpainted staircase represent its beginnings. Impressive coquina fireplace and shiplapped pine paneling speak to mid 20th century tastes. And expansive backyard decking and accoutrements reflect contemporary taste for outdoor entertaining.
Eaves Home – 1109 Magnolia Street
Built in 1918, 1109 projects a stately comfort that blossoms further by entering the front door. Exposed ceiling beams and stone-faced fireplace flanked by period built-ins, typical of Craftsman style homes, just begin the treats that await. Additions over the years expanded its comfort and utility. The talents spread through current resident family have made tasteful delights of the new gardens and both floors of the interior.
Zak Home – 1114 Magnolia Street
From its multiple wrap porch entries to its porte-cochere, and from the many french doors surrounding the living room to a what has become of second floor sleeping porch, 1114 remains a graceful example of Craftsman design. Having endured some baffling changes in the past, the young owners of this work-in-progress are restoring its original appeal while maintaining a practical space for working from home while raising a family.
The Huse Home – 1211 Live Oak
A period outlier in this tour, this 1957 ranch, built for a notable 20th century local, has been recently transformed into a light and airy contemporary gem. Fluid interior public spaces offer varied areas for conversation or contemplation. Abundant windows open to expansive gardens with similarly versatile sitting areas, both near the house and accessed via winding pathways that traverse the tree shaded grounds.
The Magnolia – 403 Magnolia Street
The 1924 completion of this graceful Mediterranean Revival structure only a dozen years after the Woman’s Club was chartered demonstrated the members’ community commitment and ambition. Offering space for business gatherings and entertainments, weddings and yoga classes for nearly a century. Come learn more about its history and see the progress on its renovation toward providing community accessible space once more. Greg Holbrook, Executive Director of the New Smyrna Museum of History will be on-site to answer questions about the property.
Ascherl Home – 405 Magnolia Street
This delightful 1916, 2 story cottage sits atop latticed brickwork foundation, fronted by a cozy porch and shaded by the street side oaks creating a memorable neighborhood feature. The inside bestows more light filled spaces than the exterior suggests, with original plaster walls, crown moulding, elegantly clever built-ins and pine floors. Updated kitchen and bath renovations enrich daily life while echoing the cottage character.
